Services WA now makes it easier for older Australians to learn about their aged care options. It’s hard to predict when someone might need to explore these choices, and it can be a stressful and emotional time for many.
This was the case for Bruce, who needed aged care information for his father and partner, after their circumstances changed quickly. ‘It’s quite a complex terrain to navigate,’ said Bruce. Being able to come in and speak to an Aged Care Specialist Officer (ASCO) at his local service centre made a big difference. ‘Having someone who is a specialist, take the information that I had and feed that into the system and provide the answers that I was after, was invaluable.’
Mandurah Seniors Centre/Dandjoo Kaadadjan Mia hosts free monthly information sessions presented by different guest speakers including community service providers and local legends.
Our monthly information sessions are open to all community members.
