Bookbinding with Bina Butcher – Falcon Library and Community Centre

FREEJoin us in learning the art of bookbinding with artist Bina Butcher.
Learn the art of hand bookbinding in this one-day workshop. You will be guided through the process of creating a fully hand bound, hard cover artist book or diary. You will be encouraged to utilise recycled or found materials to incorporate into your book, such as found or old magazines, books, artworks, fabrics and recycled papers. Learn how to curate old drawings, prints or artworks into an artist book or simply create your own unique diary from scratch. This workshop is a great starting point for those looking to take up making their own book and even for those interested in learning to rebind existing books. No experience is required!
Participants are encouraged to bring:
- Notebook & pen
- Apron or older clothes you don’t mind getting messy
- Old drawings/paintings/prints/artworks assorted recycled papers (magazines/books), scrap papers (paper doily/textured papers) – the more materials you have to work with the more exciting your book will be!
- Fabric for book covers (approx. 1 square metre)
- All other required materials and tools will be provided.
Participants are encouraged to bring along a packed lunch.
Light morning and afternoon tea will be provided.
This workshop is aimed at ages 15 and above.
