i/o – Alex Winner – Mandurah Performing Arts Centre
April 3 @ 17:00 - 18:00
Alex Winner’s first solo exhibition, i/o, explores the dynamics between digital connection and shared experiences.
By focusing on the mundane moments transmitted into virtual spaces, Winner examines how technology has transformed intimacy.
Adopting the visual language of CCTV and live-feed technology, Winner provokes questions about authenticity, consent, and self-broadcasting. By blurring the distinction between live and pre-recorded footage. The mundane becomes significant, and the viewer’s role shifts from passive observer to participant.
Constructed with everyday devices like webcams, smartphones, and hidden cameras, i/o highlights how accessible technology enables constant communication. These everyday tools, repurposed, invite viewers to reflect on how we contribute to our shared digital fabric.
What is the cost of constant connectivity? How do our shared digital experiences foster intimacy? What is the potential of connecting in an age where every moment can be broadcast, seen, and shared?
OFFICIAL OPENING: March 7th 6pm – All Welcome.
